Park Forest Middle School: 7th Grade
At Park Forest Middle School, I was responsible for co-teaching and independently teaching 7th grade art as a student teacher. Throughout my 8-week placement, students learned 2D art making techniques, such as watercolor, colored pencil, collage, as well as an extensive review of the elements of art and principles of design. Everything they learned was incorporated into a choice based project that I designed and taught. Working with 7th grade gave me diverse experience in behavior management, working with students during a crucial transitional time in their lives, and navigating the art world alongside them.
2D Choice Lesson
The purpose of this project is for students to explore and refine their skills in the art making techniques that have been introduced in class. They will use these techniques to create a work of art that is a reflection of an aspect of their life. Students will be encouraged to make connections between their interests and other ideas, objects, places, etc.
This lesson is designed in three parts, to include an introduction to the project, brainstorming, and studio days
