Practicing Artists as Educators
A research project in progress
Practicing Artists as Educators is a research project in progress, that involves interviews with contemporary, practicing artists, who belong to historically marginalized groups in the art world. The recorded interviews give artists the opportunity to share their work, process, and inspiration with art students to inspire their art practice. Moreover, the video recorded studio tours and interviews will provide much needed teaching resources for art education students preparing to be K-12 art teachers. Each interview will have an accompanying lesson plan. The lesson will prompt students to consider an artist's inspirations as their own inspiration.
